24% of Republicans think President Obama is the Antichrist

57 percent of Republicans (32 percent overall) believe that Obama is a Muslim, 45 percent of Republicans (25 percent overall) agree with the Birthers in their belief that Obama was "not born in the United States and so is not eligible to be president," 38 percent of Republicans (20 percent overall) say that Obama is "doing many of the things that Hitler did." Scariest of all, 24 percent of Republicans (14 percent overall) say that Obama "may be the Antichrist."
Respondents without a college education are vastly more likely to believe such claims....

The full results of the poll [indicate] that high percentages of Republicans—and Americans overall—believe that President Obama is a "domestic enemy".... It's the same claim made by Marine Lance Corporal Kody Brittingham in his letter of intent to assassinate the President Obama.

Another Baptist church not anti-gay enough for Texas

The Royal Lane Baptist Church, has served congregants in North Dallas for the past five decades. Although gay member have long been a part of the church family, the board finally decided last month to go public with their welcome.

Virginia Legislature Lauds TV Preacher Robertson

TV evangelist Pat Robertson's 80th birthday is on Monday, and to mark that momentous occasion, the Virginia legislature decided to pass a resolution lauding him a great American, visionary leader and all-around swell fellow.

The resolution is full of the "whereases" and flowery language that are common in this type of thing. It lauds Robertson's creation of the Christian Broadcasting Network, Regent University, the American Center for Law and Justice and the Christian Coalition.

Last week I wrote about Prime Minister Netanyahu's participation at John Hagee's CUFI rally held in Jerusalem on the evening of Joe Biden's arrival in Israel. Since that time Netanyahu has claimed that the announcement of new housing units in East Jerusalem was accidental, and the ambush of Biden unintentional. But there has been almost no mainstream press acknowledgement of Netanyahu's participation at the CUFI rally.....

This incident deserves more exposure for several reasons.

Historians blast proposed Texas social studies curriculum

Historians criticized proposed revisions to the Texas social studies curriculum Tuesday, saying that many of the changes are historically inaccurate and that they would affect textbooks and classrooms far beyond the state's borders.

Why in the world, you might ask, would Thomas Jefferson's role as a Founding Father be downplayed? Probably because he simply wasn't a Christian, and did not appeal to the Christian god or scriptures as a foundation for the American colonies' independence (or their later Constitutional government). Thomas Jefferson just doesn't cut it in America today apparently. He's not Christian enough.

The text book adoption process in Texas follows the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards. If a text book gets TEKS certification, the publisher can look forward to huge orders that are placed usually at the district level, not the level of the local school.

Chuck Hurley of the Iowa Family Policy Center (IFPC) has asserted that gay marriage is more dangerous than second-hand smoke. One Iowa responds:

Same-sex couples entering into a marriage encourage monogamy and stability in our communities the same way opposite-sex couples do.
