I don't usually make predictions, but I will venture to say that the '08 election will involve the most religious smear mongering of any elecion since Thomas Jefferson's first run.

I think Fred's comments are important and basically accurate. The Religious Right has been declared dead with embarrassing frequency by both mainstream and niche journalists and commentators over the years.
